“The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.” (Psalms 23:1-2 NKJV)
One of the first multi-verse passages I memorized as a child, I will simply post the entire psalm right here.
“The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD
Forever.” (Psalms 23:1-6 NKJV)
I memorized the KJV, but this is the NKJV. I generally prefer that because it is closer to what I memorized as a child and youth.
This psalm is rightfully one of the most well-known and most oft-memorized psalms in the Bible, and, “that’s all I have to say about that,” to quote Forrest Gump.
