Faithfully Rejoicing in Trials
“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:6-8 NKJV)
Most often this scripture is cited in reference to prayer and faith in general. While it can reasonably be extended to general use, it is important to note that the prayer addressed here is specifically for wisdom.
How often do I chafe under the pressure of, “various trials?” That descriptor could go from having to wait for something trivial to facing imminent torture or deadly persecution.
When I find myself in a seeming crisis, be it personal, family, church, work or otherwise, my first response should be to rejoice. God wants to use all such experiences to make me more like Him.
Father, help me to view my trials through Your eyes. Give me glimpses of the glory you are making of me – enough to keep me on track, but not so much to make me feel I am already complete.
